Kids Program Kicks Off...

So, the Keweenaw Cycling Kids program first session took place on Sunday, and it looks like it is going to be a great season. We had around 45 kids show up, and I know that there are quite a few more that were not able to make it. It is always cool to see all of those kids out on the trail having a good time.

There will be a session this coming Sunday. We know it is memorial weekend, but what better way to spend a long weekend than on the trails? Also, the calendar has been updated concerning the kids rides. We will be continuing the Sunday sessions up until the Chain Drive. After the Chain Drive we will move to Tuesdays at 6:30pm, and Fridays at 10:00am.

Stay Tuned!

Oh! I think the kid in the above video is one of the graduates of our program from a few years ago...;)

Trail Update...

A few more days of dry weather may make the trails east (down hill) of Core Loop safe to ride, but with rain forecast for the weekend, we'll have to take a wait and see attitude. It will be a while longer for the west (upper) trails to dry since they generally aren't as well drained.

And please don't ride on the ski trails. They are especially soft and vulnerable right now,

You Missed a Good Ride...

So, I don't want to rub it in anyone's face... but you all missed a great ride this morning -- Saturday. Three people showed up for the ride and I don't think that any of us were too excited about the weather, but once we were on the road all of our concerns were washed away... literally. For most of the ride we enjoyed just a slight drizzle until the last mile or so when we were hit with a little squall. However, luck would have it and the Parkview lodge was in sight. We stopped, rung out our socks, had a great breakfast (if you haven't been good prices, good portions, great food), then jumped back on the bike and headed back towards Houghton.

At the beginning of each leg it was a little chilly, but once you were going everything was good. If you are looking to get some base miles in and enjoy riding with other people, consider coming out next Saturday. It's always a good time and you usually don't regret going.

Thanks Muir and Jay for showing up and making sure I didn't punk out...

Knock! Knock!... Who's there..?

It's Spring!  That's right... I don't know if anyone's noticed, but today it was over 50 degrees here in Houghton. If that doesn't say "Get out and ride," I don't know what does.  Nows the time to start checking over your equipment, deciding if those shorts can make it another season, putting a new layer of duct tape on your gloves, and watching bike movies with all your cycling buddies...

- For Free
- at the MTU Forestry Building room G002
- Wednesday, April 16th from 7-9pm

And just so everyone knows, the Saturday following the movie will be the first group road ride on the KCC calendar.  If you have a ride that you want posted just e-mail someone on our contact page.  Hope to see you there.
